His visionary leadership was put to the ultimate test as Artistic Director of Avant Bard Theater in the D.C. area, where he led a profound turnaround during the height of the pandemic. He didn't just stabilize the institution; he redefined its cultural relevance by initiating a national conversation among theatermakers on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

His philosophy is rooted in servant leadership: casting a vision and then empowering artists and staff to build something extraordinary. This approach led to the creation of a groundbreaking handbook of artistic practices that honor individual working styles and foster true ensemble work.

A Coach Who Equips the Next Generation

DeMone knows it's not enough to raise the next generation of artists, we must equip them. This belief led to the creation of the ABT Incubator, an immersive training program that mentors student artists in every aspect of production, from season planning and budgeting to casting and management.
